Alaska fishing tragedies

Postby Rinaaaaa » Tue May 19, 2009 8:12 pm

I was watching the Deadliest Catch reruns and there is one episode of the F/V Katmai sinking back in October 2008. One of the men that was died was Fuli Lemusu of Salem, Oregon. He is barely mentioned, but was a father & husband who worked hard for his family.

It reminded me of another man who perished while working on a crab boat. Over four years ago Manu Lagai of Spokane, Washington was swept overboard while he was working on the Sultan. Manu's brother who also worked on the same boat watched him get swept away.

i haven't seen that show on in a while...but i think the one about the brother and another samoan guy...the guy on the other boat was just a good friend and they had a hard time tellin him...and these guys jobs are hard...but they like the adrenaline rush from wat they do and the fast money they get from it....i live up in alaska and have plenty uncles that have/still do go out and do that...and all da family on land can do is pray that they all come back alive & well

Thats all you can do is "pray" and hope for the best for all the families.

I've only seen the ep with Manu Lagai in it. I haven't seen any new eps. From what I can see from the show, the work looks very dangerous.
